GOLDEN GLOVES WED NIGHT TRAINING
Time & Location
About The Event
The Golden Glove Training Series will be a 6-week program designed to improve athletes infield skills with the focus on footwork, glove work, throwing and receiving. The techniques discussed, taught and executed are to prepare players for high-level fundamentals and play.
JB Slimp has coached for 20 years and trained athletes from ages 6 to 22 years old giving him a unique perspective on PROGRESSION BLOCKS training to present what some feel are very advanced fundamentals in a clear, concise, step by step progression technique that allows even the youngest of athletes to gain fundamentals that college programs look for in their athletes.
FROM COACH JB
in addition to my 2 decades of coaching experience, my technical background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas (Go Longhorns!). Kinesiology is a science in the “Study of Human Movement” This background was an integral part of how I developed my progression teaching techniques. This concept takes an end result that is quite complex and breaks it into small pieces of more simple parts that athletes can use as a building block to more complex movements. For example take the skill of throwing on the run, which is super important as an infielder in the game of fastpitch. Each year at our org tryouts I see high school age athletes struggle to execute this skill correctly mostly because previous training has not been effective. I have committed myself as a coach to teach my athletes how to be great defenders thru advanced fundamentals. There is no reason an 8-year-old can’t throw on the run with beautiful smoothness and execution, but it needs to be built up thru progression blocks.
Another important perspective I have as a coach is understanding what college coaches look for infielders they are recruiting. This is powerful information I use to build my infield curriculum. So if you are ready to become the best infielder you can join me for 6 weeks of Golden Glove training!
